Starting here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_MacDonald_Had_a_Farm I was able to get the "standard lyrics". And at 12:20 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgig6mZj8ZA I was able to confirm that the "standard lyrics" are indeed published before 1929, so should be public domain. But it doesn't have a "clean list" of animals. This document, also pre-1929: https://archive.org/download/tommystunescompr00nett/tommystunescompr00nett_djvu.txt has a clean list of animals, but not the exact lyrics I want. The animal list is: some dogs: With a bow-wow here, and a bow-wow there, Here a bow, there a wow, everywhere a bow-wow. some hens: With a cluck cluck here, and a cluck cluck there, Here a cluck, there a cluck, everywhere a cluck, cluck. some ducks: With a quack quack here, and a quack quack there, Here a quack, there a quack, everywhere a quack, quack. some cows: With a moo moo here, and a moo moo there, Here a moo, there a moo, everywhere a moo moo. some pigs: With a grunt grunt here, and a grunt grunt there, Here a grunt, there a grunt, everywhere a grunt grunt. some cats: With a meow meow here, and a meow meow there, Here a meow, there a meow, everywhere a meow meow. an ass: With a hee-haw here, and a hee-haw there, Here a hee, there a haw, everywhere a hee-haw. There doesn't appear to be a standard list of animals, and I don't like the pigs grunting instead of oinking. Nor do I like dogs having priority. Nor do I like plural cows. Nor do I want to sing about asses in this venue. And neighing horses and honking geese are missing. As such, I am altering things a bit. While I am able to (and am) making my own work public domain (lyrics, audio and video), there is a non-zero chance that my arrangement is sufficiently close to, or exactly the same as, someone else's lyrics, and that I will be sued for copyright infringement, and some asshole judge will enforce that. There's also a non-zero chance that the law (and potentially constitutions if necessary) will be amended and backdated so that this whole thing becomes copyrighted, and the penalty changed such that anyone who sings this children's song anywhere is executed by firing squad. I'm going to take my chances either way. As Avon said: https://hermit.org/Blakes7/Episodes/scripts/Stardrive.html "There are times when even the most cynical must trust in luck." So here is what I will sing (and video in case the mouth movements are useful to someone). But note that I am unlikely to be the world's best singer (especially if an Australian drawl comes out), and some people would like some music too, so my version is meant purely to create a starting point, until someone provide me with a better public domain version.
